the last five years
I know. I know. You’re expecting me to say something delicious & profound like, “Once the bird crosses over the horizon and lands at your feet, only then will the snake lose its rattle.” Unfortunately for you, I just made that up, but knowing my great fortune, by tomorrow morning there will be 2 stories in the news—one about a rare bird migration over the Playa del So(u)l —is that a real place?—and another on a never before seen rattlesnake! Don’t say I didn’t warn you. My mystical musings always come true 😉
But on a serious tip—
I can definitely say that I never expected any of this. We say it all the time in Islam, “We plan & God plans, and God is the Best of Planners,” and that’s the refrain I come back to any time I’m confused, which, over the last 5 years, have been a many! So I just give it up to the Lord, because honestly, what do I really know? What do we mere mortals really know other than the problems we create for ourselves? I shared a video yesterday for Take Care Tuesday, and, if you watch the whole clip on YouTube, he goes on to talk about this very thing: we’re living on a rock, in the middle of the frickin galaxy, on which we should be frolicking and living fancy free from the abundance of the Earth which the good Lord hath given, and instead we out here actin a plum fool, creating fake problems just so that we can have something “to do.” Well ya know what I wanna do? Drink my water, do my yoga, & mind my GOT DAMN bi’niss, ok? Period.
Yet, here we are. Forced to navigate this thing called life with all its ups and downs, highs and lows, ins and outs. And you gotta figure it out. You gotta figure out what you’re doing here. How you want to spend your time. You know, it’s funny because—and I’ve said this before—at the very core of it all, humanity is kind of basic. Like, with all we’ve been given, all we’ve been blessed with, we should be a bit more evolved. And I’m not talking technological advances, though that certainly factors in. I’m talking about spiritually. And, again, that’s not to say that everyBuddy is out there hugging trees and living like hippies, although, that’s my kinda jam. What I mean is a base, core, level of consciousness in which we ALL are more evolved than our current state. A sense of awareness in which we each recognize one another as the magnificent spirit beings that we all are. Some of us are there. A lot of us still got a loooong way to go.
I was thinking earlier about my yoga practice and how I was really on my sh*t before, and at the start of, my time in California almost exactly 5 years ago to the day. As we know, I fell off that horse, and it’s taken me a minute to get back on. I was emailing some yogis recently and almost all of them signed off with namaste, and it got me pondering on the phrase and how yoga has been exported and commercialized as this “workout” when it’s foundation has and always will be a spiritual practice. The physique you get from doing it is just a bonus. But each session is ended with namaste—the Divine in me honors the Divine in you. Think about that for a minute. I’ll wait.
Do you even think of yourself as divine? Because if you don’t, you’re not going to see that the divine in someone else. You might think you see it in them. You may even say you see it in them, but if you aren’t living that truth for yourself, you’re merely putting them on a pedestal and downplaying yourself all for the sake of what? Appeasement? Social/societal approval? Why would you ever play yourself like that? In the words of our beloved Brother Malcolm X, who taught you to hate yourself? And I’ll add, why are you mad because someone else chooses not to?
None of this is what I initially planned to sit down and write tonight, but refer back paragraph 2, article 3 🤓 “We plan & God plans, and God is the Best of Planners.” Anyways, I think my Woosahs have spoken for themselves and given you, at the very least, a little snippet of how my time out in the great Wild West has bean. And if you haven’t read them all, well then, Lucy, you got some splainin to do tryna ack like you know something and you know nada! But even if you have read them (*high key* recommend), you still don’t know me. Not really. You have to experience a person to know a person. You have to spend quality time with a person to know a person. You have to have some real insight into a person to know a person. You have to actually know a person to know a person. But that’s only if you want to know a person.
This shall be the last Weekly Woosah of the year. Hold on. Let me just breathe that out real quick because woo! It has bean a year, darling. Heaven only knows. And truly, if it wasn’t for Him, I never woulda made it. And now it’s time to saddle up and hop back on the horse.
LiLi & Mojave - 5 year Caliversary
One day I shall regale you with all the details of my 2 hour accidental anniversary ride, but right now my legs are sore and I’m is ti’ed. My full thoughts on this 5 year journey shall be posted in a Meditation Moment so be on the lookout for that. I know you have your notifications on. In the meantime in between time, I just want to say thank you for breathing here, and thank you for letting me be me. That right there, is exactly what the world needs. Utter acceptance of all God’s creeds.
Anywho, wherever you are, wherever you may be, you could be anywhere, but here you are. With me. And I love that for you. And I love that for me beyond what you can comprehend! You know you got a fan for life, but more than that, you’ve got yourself a true friend. Have a blessed night, and a fortuitous weekend indeed! Stay blessed EveryBuddy & Godspeed.
Love Always (& besitos!)
Your Darling Queen of Hearts
And world favorite cariño 🤍
