the (milky) way of the dragon

Dear My Gorgeous Pretties,

Last night I went on a rage walk. That’s when you’re furious as fuque and you walk off really fast into the darkness until you aren’t angry anymore. In a moment of crying out to the High Heavens, I raised my head to the sky, and just as I screamed, “ALLAH!” my voice caught in my throat as the Milky Way stared back down at me in all its wonder and glory. My mouth agape, I stood there, truly in awe, mind empty, momentarily forgetting the anger that drove me out there in the first place. I was surrounded by the deep expanse of the sky, and the stars twinkled back down at me (a phenomenon known as scintillation for my astro nerds out there 🤓) singing, “Hush now, my baby. Be still, love, don’t cry.” I touched my face. The tears had already stopped. I just stood there in wonder at this magnificence I had heard of my whole life, and, up until that moment, had never realized I hadn’t witnessed with my own two eyes. And then it made me think that there are still so many firsts I have yet to experience with people I have yet to meet and love, who will, in turn, love me & adore me, and that’s something to look forward to. Though it’s hard to dance with the devil on your back, you gotta shake him off and keep on walking forward. Godward. Closer to you. Arriba!

There are many things I have still yet to see in this great wide somewhere that covers 3 million acres. Crickey! But one I wanted to be sure to get to was the new boardwalk at Salt Creek, home of the cutie little pupfish.

The boardwalk reopened this spring after improvements were made for safety & protection of the fish and the visitors. It’s a nice walk too, but that desert sun takes no prisoners so please put on your sunscreen! I beg of thee. Though I was attacked by a giant horsefly that was hellbent on trying to suck my blood, being able to see these tiny little creatures was worth it.

The Furnace Creek Visitor Center has all the information on this and so much more of the Valley. If you’re traveling through, be sure to stop in and get all the hot goss, tour the mini museum (referenced in an earlier Woosah edition All’s Well That Ends in Wellness), and check out the newly added informational movie in their auditorium—a perfect excuse to beat this heat!—that gives a really nice overview of history of the Valley, the plants & animals, the natives that have been here & still call this place home, wayfarers just passing through for a time in the mines, and the people who came out West in search of a better life, and ended up staying. 10 outta 10 *highkey* recommend. Run time is about 15 minutes.

A little commotion for the flowers 🌼

Oh, and don’t worry. No need to tell ‘em I sent ya. I’ont really trip on the credit. I just paid alla mah dues. I just respected tha game. Got my name all on tha news. And now, the marathon ______ 🥷🏿

Watching My Gorgeous Pretties in the World Cup has shown me, shown the world, that the people really are united. Just look at how even fans from opposing sides turn and celebrate one another’s cultures. Is it just me, or has the Viking row officially become the World Cup battle cry? Anyway, it’s all just got me thinking about the bigger picture, as per youzhe (sound it out!), and it’s like, if all the people are actually united, what (or perhaps whom) is keeping us divided? 🤔 What is stopping us from truly creating a better world for us all? Questions that need answers! But in the meantime, who are you rooting for to win? I’m not a gambler so I place no bets, but I do, in fact, already know who shall take home the trophy, though I’ve been sworn to secrecy! And I am one to always uphold my oath. Scout’s honor. Besides, I don’t wanna ruin the surprise. Do you like surprises?

Welp, my Gorgeous Pretties, I must keep this one brief, so tonight, that’s all she wrote for you, My Sweets. Whoever you are, wherever you may be, you could be anywhere in the world, but you’re here with me. I love that for you. And especially love it for me. I hope you are enjoying your week, and I shall see you not next, but in 2. For now, I bid you a brief adieu, but don’t you dare go too far. We shall meet again. As ever as always, thank you for being a true friend. The solid kind, on whom a damsel like me can depend. Ok, you’re making me cheese! Gotta go. Have a profound rest of your week. Stay blessed, EveryBuddy, and God speed.

Love always (& besitos!)
