Somewhere over the rainbow
Dear My Gorgeous Pretties,
Well, we’ve come to the end of our journey in St. Louis. ‘Twas quite the row if you know what I mean. Traveling this much continues to teach me to remain open to new people & places & ideas, and simultaneously to know yourself so completely that no one’s preconceived notions or perceptions of you alters your knowledge of self.
It’s wild because even without knowing you, but knowing of you, or what they know of you from social media, you’ll find many people will still want you to conform to their idea of who they want you to be as if you owe them something by simply being in their presence. But when you don’t know yourself, that’s when people pleasing becomes the default. And you see this all the time with people making themselves small in order to fit into the crowd, or saying one thing with you in private and then completely changing the narrative when they get in a group dynamic. Classic people pleasing. I don’t want to ruffle anyone’s feathers. But we are allowed to exist, do you hear me? We are allowed to exist, if not for anyone else, for the fulfillment of ourselves.
The Forest Through the Trees
Dear My Gorgeous Pretties,
How are you this week? Life in Mexico has been pretty sweet. HOT! but sweet, nevertheless. All the vibrant colors and rich history, slow-er pace of life, is a gentle reminder for me to stay present. Stay in the moment. Enjoy the joi de vivre. Which is hard sometimes when you’re trying to see the forest through the trees. But that’s why you have to remember to just breathe. There are surprisingly a ton of vegan options here which has simply delighted by pretty little haHt. I can’t wait to share these adventures with you next month. But no more skipping ahead. Back to where we left off!
Adventures in the (quite literally iconic and) historic Forest Park took up the remainder of most of my days in St. Louis. Home to the St. Louis History Museum, St. Louis Museum of Fine Arts, St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Science Center, the Muny (America’s largest & oldest outdoor musical theatre) Performing Arts Complex, and spanning over 1200 acres, this is the site where the infamous World’s Fair (aka the Louisiana Purchase Exposition) took place. Drawing over 20 million visitors from April to December 1904, and hosting 60+ countries and 43 of the then 45 American states, the lasting impact of the affair on the city’s influence in the field’s of arts, architecture, and sciences is undeniable, and the St. Louis History Museum has a sensational exhibit that that showcases all of it.
king me
Dear My Gorgeous Pretties,
I think people drastically underestimate my desire to run away into the woods and live amongst the forest fairies in peace. The witches of days old (and the ones in fairytales) get a bad rap. I mean think about it. Going off to be one with nature, foraging & eating what Mother Nature made available to you, making natural tonics (“potions”) and living a life of serenity & solitude away from the antics of civilized society was somehow considered maleficent? It sounds like a perfectly quaint life for me, honestly. A life I desperately long for…
